Getting started can feel intimidating. Let’s look at how it works so you know what to expect.

  • This is great because you can have all your questions answered, including some that you may not have considered. At the time of the call, we discuss treatment modalities, preferences, but also, you get to feel us out and get a sense for how therapy will be. The goal is that by the time you come to the first session, you feel comfortable enough to trust us to hold space for you.

  • Should you want to move forward, the initial session will be scheduled at the time of the call, fees discussed, and you will received a portal invite to complete intake paperwork.

  • The paperwork can take 30 minutes to complete, and does not have to be completed in one sitting. We encourage you to voice treatment preferences and ask questions to gather a holistic picture of your health and how symptoms are manifesting. We recognize that the questions alone, can bring up emotions.

We ask that the paperwork is completed 1-2 business days prior to the initial session so there is enough time to review, this will help the initial session go as smoothly as possible for you, and avoid you having to repeat yourself.

Scheduling & Cancellations

We typically schedule sessions to be consistent in frequency along with day/time. This provides you with consistency. Our therapists also take adequate time to prepare before/after the session including seeking professional development and consultations to best support you.

Reserving your time means saying no to prospective clients, as we typically have a waitlist. It is for that reason that should a session be cancelled less than 24 hours in advance, the full session fee will be applied.

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are not in network for commercial insurance. We do accept EAP for the following:

    • Anthem EAP

    • Wellpoint EAP

    • Aetna EAP

    • Beacon EAP

We encourage you to contact your insurance and ask for out-of-network benefits as your insurance can reimburse you up to 100% depending on your unique insurance plan. If you have an HSA benefit (ex: Health Equity), it is an acceptable payment method as well.

We also have a contracts with Loudoun County as well as the City of Charlottesville. What this means is that we service residents in the jurisdiction referred to us and the clients do not pay us.

  • If applicable, your employer may provide an Employer Assistance Program (EAP) where you are allotted short-term free counseling sessions. Typically, it can range from 4-8 weeks and will simply require a pre-authorization code.

  • Yes, we do. We have a limited number of slots available for sliding scale.

  • Ask for “Out-of-Network Benefits for behavioral health." Additionally, you want to ask for the following CPT codes:

    90791: Initial Session

  • Absolutely, and great question! We are not Anti-White, we ARE anti-racists, anti-transphobic, and operate from an anti-oppressive lense. We value investing in our community as well as partnerships and allies. We want to support clients who resonate with our values. Imagine growing up your whole life and being told implicitly AND explicitly that anything other than the color of your skin, hair, body shape and size, or eye color is the beauty standard. Imagine you being taught history about people that never represented you, your culture, customs, being bullied, profiled, and treated differently. The impact that can have on the course of your life, self-esteem and access to resources. We could really go on, but we hope you understand, and it’s for that reason that a dedicated healing space is created where clients feel safe speaking about these issues without the fear of retribution for speaking their truth. We serve clients who are White, and also in inter-racial relationships or are bi-racial themselves, they are welcome. Should you find that you were offended by any of what was previously mentioned or you find yourself questioning the need for a BIPOC-focused space, then we would not be a good fit. We would be happy to help you identify a provider to support you on your journey.
